Course Outline

This course provides a guide to creating PowerPoint presentations that are fully accessible to individuals using switch devices. Aimed at educators, trainers, and accessibility specialists, the course focuses on integrating our PowerPoint macro-enabled template into the design process to ensure presentations are accessible to switch users.

Switch access template features include:
i. Go to slide – Creates a hyperlink to go to a specific slide.
ii. Start custom show – Creates a hyperlink to the named custom show.
iii. Open slideshow – Creates a hyperlink to launch another slideshow.
iv. Mouse left-click – Simulate mouse left-click.
v. Click on shape – Simulate mouse left-click on the named shape.

*Please note that Apple macOS is not compatible with this template.

Prerequisites:
• Participants should already know how to create presentations using PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with some of the commands located on the PowerPoint ribbon and tabs.
• Participants are required to bring their own laptop with Microsoft Windows.
• Microsoft PowerPoint software installed in the system.

Learning Objectives

Participants will learn:

  • In details to features of our Switch Access PowerPoint template.
  • How to integrate this template into your design.
  • Presentation examples created using our template. These will serve as guides to help you align your content and design effectively.

Course Instructor

Mr. Ramlan Bin Hamim is an Educator in CPAS Assistive Technology Hub (AT Hub). He is responsible for building accessible learning resources based on AT device so that technology can be fully utilized during classroom lessons. He participates in designing outcome goals within the AT team keeping clients learning level in mind. He also lead in advocating for AT usage among teachers e.g. lead change in shaping positivity in teachers’ attitudes towards AT usage and parents and students. He trained /upskilled teachers on AT usage together with other AT professionals i.e., scheduling sharing sessions, workshops, etc. on a regular basis. Provides AT intervention from assessment, trial, recommendations to implementation in the classroom for students who are referred to AT Hub by the school team. Guide teachers in AT delivery processes. Advise and educate non-teaching AT professionals in formulating AT policy, and subsequent SOPs and AT usage, that anticipates operational constraints/ classroom practices which is aligned with curriculum goals and priorities, and MOE’s expected outcomes.

– If the participant is absent without valid reason or without supporting document, full course fees will be charged with no refund

Withdrawal from the Registered Class
Notification of withdrawal must be given via email to CPAS at least 8 weeks before the course commencement date. There will be an admin fee chargeable for late withdrawal:

  • Notification received from 6 weeks before commencement of course – 50% of full course fee
  • Notification received from 4 weeks before commencement of course – 75% of full course fee
  • Notification received less than 4 weeks before commencement of course – 100% of full course fee
  • No refunds will be given for non-attendance of workshop
