Course Outline
This course is designed to empower caregivers with the fundamental skills to effectively support their children in managing behaviors and tantrums. Participants will gain insights into the importance of establishing structure and consistency in a child’s routine. Additionally, the course emphasizes the creation of a positive learning environment that fosters growth and development, enabling children to thrive.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understanding Tantrums and Challenging Behaviors
- Recognizing the root causes of tantrums and challenging behaviors
- The role of sensory processing issues and how they can impact a child’s behavior.
- Understand the importance of routines and structure at home
- Establishing a routine and structure at home
- Tips for creating a calm down corner in your home
Course Instructor
Ms Sarah Tan, an Early Intervention Vice-Principal, has over 22 years of rich experience working in the Special Needs Education sector, where she works with children and adolescents with diverse needs across a range of settings and roles in early intervention, Special Education Schools and MOE Primary School.
Her passion and interests led her to obtain a Post-Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills (from Play Therapy International/UK) and she is a Certified Therapeutic Play Practitioner. In addition, she is an Early Communication professional – trained and licensed by The Hanen Centre in the 4I’s to Socialise” approach. Sarah believes in empowering parents to be advocators for their own child and strongly believes in the power of play that not only contributes to children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development, but also promotes their overall well-being and self-regulation.
Ms Ruzanna Jamil has over 16 years of experience in the special needs education sector. She is dedicated in supporting children with a wide range of developmental, cognitive, and behavioral challenges. Having worked with children aged 2 to 17 across various settings, Anna employs evidence-based strategies to address the unique needs of each learner. She is a firm believer in creating engaging, effective, and inclusive learning experiences, tailoring interventions to maximize each child’s potential.
Mr. Kishure Kumar has been working as a special needs educator since 2014. He leverages his Master of Education in Special Education and Advanced Diploma in Special Education to support the development of students aged 2 to 7. By fostering strong partnerships with parents, he strives to create a supportive environment that nurtures the unique abilities of every student
Terms and Conditions
– Registration will be confirmed only upon receiving invoice or full payment.
– If the participant is absent without valid reason or without supporting document, full course fees will be charged with no refund
Withdrawal from the Registered Class
– Notification of withdrawal must be given via email to CPAS at least 8 weeks before the course commencement date. There will be an admin fee chargeable for late withdrawal:
- Notification received from 6 weeks before commencement of course – 50% of full course fee
- Notification received from 4 weeks before commencement of course – 75% of full course fee
- Notification received less than 4 weeks before commencement of course – 100% of full course fee
- No refunds will be given for non-attendance of workshop
