Course Outline
Basic Activities of Daily Living are tasks such as feeding, dressing, grooming etc. performed by each individual on a daily basis that are essential to independent living. Parents and caregivers of clients with difficulties in Basic Activities of Daily Living need basic information on how to train clients through specific strategies or with assistive devices, to enhance their independence in performing Activities of Daily Living. In this course, participants will be able to listen, learn and experience hands on practice on the various strategies to facilitate care and independence in ADL’s. In this Workshop, we will share with you the strategies to overcome these challenges.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to learn to:
- Analyze how Gross Motor Skills affect Fine Motor Skills.
- Understand and Apply various strategies in facilitating care and independence in Basic

Course Instructor
Mr. Chitrasena Mohanty is a registered Occupational therapist and holds a Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy (BOT), Certificate in Neuro Developmental Treatment (USA), Certificate in Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (School AMPS) and Certification in Assistive Technology Professional (RESNA) . Besides, he also holds master degrees in Business Administration(MBA) and Sociology, and a Diploma in Information Technology.
Currently, Mr. Mohanty is working as a Senior Occupational Therapist in Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore. He is specialized in Neuro-developmental treatment and School AMPS. He is involved in seeing Adult clients with Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay and multiple disabilities at present. He has over 25 years of clinical experience working with children with special needs in Rainbow Centre and Spastic Children Association of Singapore. He has special interest in providing intervention in areas of fine-motor skill development, pre-writing and writing skill improvement, use of Assistive & Adapted devices to enhance functional independence, and Special Seating
Ms Jaya Gopinath is practicing as a Senior Occupational Therapist since 2000 and has been working in Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS) since 2015. She performed responsibilities in early intervention and adult rehabilitation such as evaluating rehabilitative needs, using appropriate assessment tools and developing customized treatment plans and goals, and delivering appropriate therapy interventions to help children to overcome difficulties and stressors. She also provides clinical services within a team structure to support children, with cerebral palsy and other disabilities namely developmental delay, autism, downs syndrome and other chromosomal syndrome to meet their identified needs. She has an in-depth understanding of the diverse treatment modalities. She has served clients in feeding clinic along with multi-disciplinary team and specialized knowledge and skills in feeding, eating, and swallowing for Occupational Therapy Practice.
Ms Paulene Shekinah Sasikumar is a Speech and Language Therapist with over 14 years of experience in the field. She specializes in assessing and managing developmental communication disorders, feeding and swallowing disorders, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Throughout her career, Paulene has worked an SLP for the CPAS School and EIPIC programs. In addition to her clinical work, she is an external clinical educator for Speech Pathology students from the NUS Master’s program and SIT Bachelor’s program. Paulene is passionate about empowerment of caregivers and has developed and delivered training courses designed to empower caregivers, allied health professionals, and stakeholders. Her goal is to enhance intervention programs for clients in both home and school environments, ensuring they receive the best possible support.
Terms and Conditions
– Parents / Caregivers are required to fill in the CTG Application form, and provide the necessary documents stated in the form as required by AIC.
– Registration will be confirmed only upon receiving invoice or full payment.
– If the participant is absent without valid reason or without supporting document, full course fees will be charged with no refund
Withdrawal from the Registered Class
– Notification of withdrawal must be given via email to CPAS at least 8 weeks before the course commencement date. There will be an admin fee chargeable for late withdrawal:
- Notification received from 6 weeks before commencement of course – 50% of full course fee
- Notification received from 4 weeks before commencement of course – 75% of full course fee
- Notification received less than 4 weeks before commencement of course – 100% of full course fee
- No refunds will be given for non-attendance of workshop
