Ms. Dawn Young

Ms. Dawn Young is a speech and language therapist in CPAS School where she works within a trans-disciplinary team to support students from 7 to 18 years who have complex communication needs. Prior to joining CPAS, she worked as a speech and language therapist at SPD, where she provided one-to-one and group speech and language intervention within the community setting and at the Specialised Assistive Technology Centre. She has worked with children and adults who have a wide range of speech, language and social communication difficulties. Dawn has prior work experience as a specialist psychologist in the areas of psycho-educational assessment and specific learning difficulties, and as a special education teacher at Rainbow Centre. She enjoys supporting clients in developing their communication skills and building their excitement about engaging with people in their social circles. Dawn has undergone training in the areas of PROMPTS for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT), More Than Words, Talkability, Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). She holds a Master of Science (Speech & Language Pathology) and Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) in Psychology.
