Course Outline
This online workshop provides an introduction to toilet training for children with special needs. The focus of this workshop will inform participants of the importance of managing toileting, learning to identify the signs of toilet readiness and learning techniques to start toilet training at home. The workshop will also share various solutions to problems related to toileting within and outside of home environment. Participants will be able to identify the right time to start and try out the techniques/strategies for toilet training.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to :
- Understand the importance to manage toileting
- Identify signs of toilet readiness
- Practice strategies to manage toileting difficulties
- Tailor resources from booklet for their child’s needs
- To be able to use visuals in classroom and toilet to facilitate toilet training
Course Instructor
Ms Sharifah Shahidah has been working as a (AHPC) registered Occupational Therapist since graduating with a Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) from Curtin University, Australia in 2015. She used to work with adults in a local hospital in different settings. Currently, she provides therapy as part of a trans-disciplinary team for children in CPAS who have varied diagnoses such as cerebral palsy, developmental delays, and more. Her experience in working with caregivers and modifying clients’
homes to ensure a safe and enabling environments for the clients have given her an advantage when recommending specialized seating needs, home modifications and equipment, to assist in their daily lives.
Ms Syazwani Sahrol obtained her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the Singapore Institute of Technology – Trinity College Dublin. She is a AHPC registered Occupational Therapist and has been a part of the transdisciplinary EIPIC (Early Intervention Programme Intervention Centre) team since 2019. She has worked with children between the ages of 1 to 7 years with varied diagnoses including Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Ms Syazwani is passionate towards working with children with special needs and their families to develop the child’s skills in relation to play, school performance and daily activities.
Ms Ruzanna has been working as special needs educator since 2010. With her Advanced Diploma in Special Education, she has been working with individuals between the ages of 2 to 17. Her focus is on Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Skills, particularly toilet training. She is a firm believer in collaborating with parents to facilitate the maximum potential of their child.

– Parents / Caregivers are required to fill in the CTG Application form, and provide the necessary documents stated in the form as required by AIC.
– Registration will be confirmed only upon receiving invoice or full payment.
– If the participant is absent without valid reason or without supporting document, full course fees will be charged with no refund
